My STORY

MUSIC JOURNALIST. MARKETER. MULTIMEDIA CREATOR/WRITER.

I've spent the last 8 years working essentially as a Swiss Army knife, (as many do), in the music and marketing world. What does that mean exactly? It means I've done a little bit of everything, and am passionate about many spaces.

Allow me to explain. . .

While pursuing my B.A. in Journalism & Mass Comm. and a Certificate in Writing from the University of Iowa, I spent my free time immersing myself in the world of music and media. At Iowa I hosted two weekly music and entertainment radio shows at KRUI 89.7 fm, conducted interviews as an arts & culture journalist/photographer for KRUI.FM, lead meetings with my staff of writers whom I hired and managed as Editor in Chief of KRUI.FM for 3.5 years, and interned for a local public news channel.

After graduation, I successfully transitioned into the entertainment and creative sectors after an internship at a Chicago-based music licensing company, Music Dealers. I landed a role as the Member Engagement Coordinator at the world's largest creative incubator, 2112, where I worked with entrepreneurs in TV, Music, Film, and other various creative marketing businesses. During this time I freelance wrote for WXRT 93.1 FM creating blog content for their site. I also worked part-time for a female-owned and operated music licensing company during this time, keeping my passion for music supervision alive and well.

After a few years, I grew eager for change and growth and transitioned to a position at a marketing agency in downtown Chicago working on the account of a Fortune 100 company on their Music & Gaming Marketing Team, with my main focus being the execution of the client's experiential marketing campaign at music festivals across the country. I handled the oversight of all logistics and processes for the client's million-dollar activation from conception, to touring our activation across the country at 8 music festivals across 9 weekends.

So what mode have I switched my Swiss Army-self to? I'm currently working as a freelance writer and marketer to those in need of my various skills.

Whether it be copy-based needs for social media, press releases, websites, articles & blog posts, and even artist bios for streaming platforms, or marketing needs like brand strategy, social media creation, management, and creating brand personas to bring your brand to life online, I'm your person.
